The Met Office has launched a Weather Ready winter campaign to raise awareness of the simple actions people can take to prepare for severe weather.
It says that according to its survey nearly 40% of those surveyed said they have been unexpectedly caught out by severe winter weather. 36% of those people also said it was due to being unprepared.
