Simon has lived in Blackawton since 1996, and joined the Parish Council in 2010. He is a keen walker, bridge player and an atrocious golfer. Simon is Chairman of the Parish Council.

I moved to Blackawton Parish from Surrey in 1999 with my late husband Vic Hall and our two daughters. I managed The George Inn for 10 years after Vic’s sudden death in 2009, with much help from family, friends and very supportive staff. I am a past Chairman of FOBS, past Chairman and remain a member of Blackawton Village Hall committee, our Community Shop committee and a Parish Councillor since 2008. Finally leased TGInn in May 2019, allowing a bit more time for interests, many and varied including bridge, cooking, reading, gardening, environmental issues, films, travel and family (no time for golf!). I love Blackawton and am grateful for the opportunity to show my appreciation of this special community and it’s warm, welcoming spirit.

I’ve been lucky enough to have known the South Hams for the last 30 years and wife Zoë and I were delighted to be finally able to move to our favourite village of Blackawton in January 2020 to join the community here. I’ve always been one to take action rather than just talk about being a part of the community and when the opportunity came up to help out on the Parish Council, I put myself forward to help where I can. We love a pub quiz and can be found in The George most quiz nights, and we are committed Spaniel-wranglers. I’m also a sailing instructor and mountain leader allowing me to teach youth skills for the DofE awards and at sailing clubs which I plan to continue in our new location (now that covid is finally releasing the community!)
