Parish Basic Allowances

May 17, 2019 | Community News Post

Blackawton Parish Council has agreed that each Councillor can be paid an allowance of £120 in the 2019/20 financial year.

The allowance is calculated to cover expenses normally associated with the basic duties and responsibilities of being a Parish Councillor.

In reaching the decision, regard was had to the recommendation of the Parish Remuneration Panel.

The Parish Remuneration Panel calculates an allowance based on a percentage of the district basic allowance (fixed in 2015/16 at £5,000 per annum) and the size of the electorate.

The 2015/16 Parish Basic Allowance was £125 per Councillor. The Allowance increases by 1% annually.
