Why are we collecting this information?

Blackawton Parish Council is collecting information about locations in the Blackawton Parish where traffic collisions or near collisions have have been experienced or observed.

We want to identify possible road safety issues and have evidence to use when discussing concerns with Devon County Council and other authorities.

The official statistics available to Devon County Council use injury related collisions reported to or recorded by the Police, so they aren’t a complete record.

We are not investigating individual incidents and we are not seeking personal information. Please do not include names, vehicle registration numbers, contact details, or other information that could identify an individual.

For example: weather, daylight/darkness, visibility, road surface, parked vehicles, roadworks, or any other relevant conditions.
To your knowledge, was this incident reported to the police?
Information you provide will be used only to identify highway safety concerns and prepare reports. Any personal information provided inadvertently will be handled in accordance with Blackawton Parish Council's Data Protection Policy and will not be included in analysis or published reports. In the unlikely event that that inadvertent information raised safeguarding concerns, the Council would share relevant information with the appropriate authority.
