The Platinum Jubilee is Nearly Here

Tell Us Your Plans

It’s nearly time for the four days of Platinum Jubilee celebrations to be held. Between Thursday 2 and Sunday 5 June, the world will come together to celebrate the Queen’s historic reign and 70 years of service, and we’d love to hear what you have planned.

Please take a few minutes to complete our online questionnaire – doing so will help us identify what plans are in place across the area and means we can offer our promotional support to your community and also add your event to our event’s list on our website.

Tell Us About Your Plans Here

If you could also let us know of your summer events too at the same time, that would be really useful as well.

(Please note – this is not a formal request for an event licence  – to request a Temporary Event Notice (TEN), please visit our website here.

Community Events and Activities

If you haven’t already planned an event, there’s still time.

The Platinum Jubilee is a great way to bring our communities together and get involved in the celebrations!

We will be offering support by coordinating the events across our region and promoting activities via advertising and through our social media platforms.

Big Jubilee Lunch

The Big Jubilee Lunch is also being planned for Sunday 5 June 2022, inviting neighbours to share friendship, food and fun and bringing the Jubilee celebrations to the heart of our communities.

A Big Jubilee Lunch can be big or small, street parties or picnics or even garden barbeques.

TV Licensing

Many communities will come together to mark this historic occasion during the bank holiday weekend, and the BBC is offering local communities a special one-off TV Licence dispensation.

Celebratory events will take place throughout the weekend and the Platinum Party at the Palace, a special live event that will bring together some of the world’s biggest entertainers on Saturday 4 June, will be broadcast live on the BBC.

The dispensation will allow those arranging events in town halls, community centres and streets across Britain, where TV is not usually watched, to screen the live Jubilee programmes throughout the weekend. This is without the need to buy a licence, so long as the viewing is for the sole purpose of screening these events.
